Bio

I have been teaching at Montana State University Billings since 2008 in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice.  I have eleven years of experience teaching secondary social studies, both high school and middle school, in the St. Paul Public Schools in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I received my doctorate from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities in Curriculum and Instruction, Social Studies Education.  I teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in both curriculum and instruction and educational foundations.  My research interests include the history of boarding school education for American Indians, human rights education, and technology integration in social studies.  I have worked as an evaluator for several projects, including the Partnership to Reform Inquiry Science in Montana (PRISM), an NSF Noyce Scholarship Planning Grant, and Deliberating in a Democracy (DID), an international civic education project.  I also have experience coordinating and consulting on grants.

I am married and have two children and two beagles.  I am an avid soccer player and coach with over 15 years of experience coaching boys and girls ages 4-18 in both competitive and recreational programs.  I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and getting outdoors.
